MEMORY LANE
Memory loss can be emotionally challenging and debilitating for the person and for loved ones. The team members at Hepburn House are trained in the specific care needs of dementia and memory loss patients and now that care is being carried out in our newest wing - Memory Lane.
The open-plan wing has been built for purpose to provide a calm, spacious and safe environment for residents living with various forms of memory loss.
Light-filled rooms vary in size from 22-20 square metres, all with beautiful views of the countryside. All rooms have built-in wardrobes, single king beds with matching side tables and televisions. Families have peace of mind with a nurse on call 24 hours a day.
Rooms are kept at a comfortable temperature with hydronic split system heating and cooling and they are all in close proximity to spacious communal dining and lounge areas.
Shared settings have been designed to create a sense of home with comfortable lounge chairs, a gas fireplace and ornaments in the display shelving reminiscent of years gone by.
Memory Lane residents can access the internal courtyard and external gardens, can utilise the private dining areas where family and friends can join their loved ones for a cuppa, lunch or a family gathering. (The delightful dining room settings incur a small cost but this is a lovely way to join a loved one in their own environment).
Memory Lane is close to the theatre room, the gymnasium, the multipurpose room (where a varied range of daily activities happen) and the indoor workshed.
We offer our residents a dementia-specific lifestyle program including a host of internal engaging activities. Outings across the spectacular Daylesford and Macedon Ranges occur all year round.
Special photographic memory boxes are located outside all rooms and showcase our residents and their families, creating a sense of belonging.
The National Dementia Helpline is a free and confidential service where you can chat with caring and experienced professionals about dementia and memory loss concerns for yourself or others. The service is available by phoning 1800 100 500.
